This document details the Hardware & Software requirements for Data Protection for IBM Domino 7.1.

IBM Tivoli® Storage Manager for Mail: Data Protection for IBM Domino® 7.1 supports valid IBM Domino environments that meet all requirements defined by that product, and also meet the specific requirements listed below.

Minimum hardware requirements

The following information describes the minimum hardware and disk space requirements when using Data Protection for IBM Domino.


AIX

The following hardware is supported for the AIX platform:

  • IBM system p
  • IBM system i
  • Compatible hardware supported by the operating system and IBM Domino


The following disk space is required for the AIX platform:

  • A minimum of 78MB of disk space, and optionally:
    • At least 12MB of disk space for each Language Pack to be installed (there are 13 available).


Linux x86_64

The following hardware is supported for the 64-bit Linux x86_64 platform:

  • 64-bit x86 based PC architecture hardware (such as Pentium)
  • 64-bit AMD64/EM64T architecture hardware
  • Compatible hardware supported by the operating system and IBM Domino


The following disk space is required for the 64-bit Linux x86_64 platform:

  • A minimum of 20 MB of disk space, and optionally:
    • At least 10 MB of disk space for each Language Pack to be installed (there are 13 available)


Linux on System z

The following hardware is supported for the Linux on System z platform:

  • Any System z machine that is supported by the operating system and IBM Domino


The following disk space is required for the Linux on System z platform:

  • A minimum of 20MB of disk space, and optionally:
    • At least 10MB of disk space for each Language Pack to be installed (there are 13 available)


TIP: Some of the prerequisites defined in this document may require a system restart. To avoid a system restart, ensure that all of the minimum software requirements prerequisites detailed in the Additional Installation Prerequisites section of this document are installed before starting the Data Protection for IBM Domino installation process.


Windows x86

The following hardware is supported for the Windows x86 platform:

  • Compatible hardware supported by the operating system and IBM Domino


The following disk space is required for the Windows x86 platform:

  • A minimum of 70MB of disk space, and optionally:
    • At least 25MB disk space for prerequisites included in the installation package (which are installed automatically if they are not already installed on the system).
    • At least 6MB of disk space for each Language Pack to be installed (there are 13 available).


TIP: Some of the prerequisites defined in this document may require a system restart. To avoid a system restart, ensure that all of the minimum software requirements prerequisites detailed in the Additional installation prerequisites section of this document are installed before starting the Data Protection for IBM Domino installation process.


Windows x86_64

  • Note: This "platform" represents an environment that runs 32-bit Domino Server and 32-bit Data Protection Domino with the 32-bit Tivoli Storage Manager API on a 64-bit version of Windows. The Data Protection for Domino plugin, which drives the Web and Java GUI interfaces, is not supported for this environment.


The following hardware is supported for the Windows x86_64 platform:

  • Compatible hardware supported by the operating system and IBM Domino


The following disk space is required for the Windows x86_64 platform:

  • A minimum of 80MB of disk space, and optionally:
  • At least 25MB disk space for prerequisites included in the installation package (which are installed automatically if they are not already installed on the system).
  • At least 6MB of disk space for each Language Pack to be installed (there are 13 available).

  • Compatible hardware supported by the operating system and IBM Domino


The following disk space is required for the Windows x64 platform:

  • A minimum of 80MB of disk space, and optionally:

Minimum software and operating system requirements


The following information describes the minimum software and operating system requirements when using Data Protection for IBM Domino.


Operating systems


The following operating systems are supported for the 64-bit AIX platform:

  • 64-bit AIX 6.1 and later TL levels and fix packs
  • 64-bit AIX 7.1 and later TL levels and fix packs
  • 64-bit AIX 7.2 and later TL levels and fix packs


The following operating systems are supported for the 64-bit Linux x86_64 platform:

  • 64-bit Red Hat Enterprise Linux (RHEL) 5.0, and later mod levels and fix packs
  • 64-bit Red Hat Enterprise Linux (RHEL) 6.0, and later mod levels and fix packs
  • 64-bit Red Hat Enterprise Linux (RHEL) 7, and later mod levels and fix packs
  • 64-bit Red Hat Enterprise Linux (RHEL) 8, and later mod levels and fix packs (beginning with HCL Domino 11 and  DP for Domino 7.1.0.2)
  • 64-bit Red Hat Enterprise Linux (RHEL) 8, and later mod levels and fix packs (beginning with HCL Domino 12 and  DP for Domino 7.1.0.2)
  • 64-bit SUSE Enterprise Linux (SLES) 11, and later mod levels and fix packs
  • 64-bit SUSE Enterprise Linux (SLES) 12, and later mod levels and fix packs
  • 64-bit SUSE Enterprise Linux (SLES) 15, and later mod levels and fix packs  (beginning with HCL Domino 11 and  DP for Domino 7.1.0.2)


The following operating systems are supported for the 64-bit Linux on System z platform:

  • 64-bit Red Hat Enterprise Linux (RHEL) 5.0, and later mod levels and fix packs
  • 64-bit Red Hat Enterprise Linux (RHEL) 6.0, and later mod levels and fix packs
  • 64-bit Red Hat Enterprise Linux (RHEL) 7, and later mod levels and fix packs
  • 64-bit SUSE Enterprise Linux (SLES) 11, and later mod levels and fix packs
  • 64-bit SUSE Enterprise Linux (SLES) 12, and later mod levels and fix packs


The following operating systems are supported for the 32-bit Windows x86 platform:

  • 32-bit Windows Server 2008, or later Service Pack levels: Standard or Enterprise editions


The following operating systems are supported for the Windows x86_64 platform:

  • Note: This "platform" represents an environment that runs 32-bit Domino Server and 32-bit Data Protection Domino with the 32-bit Tivoli Storage Manager API on a 64-bit version of Windows. The Data Protection for Domino plugin, which drives the Web and Java GUI interfaces, is not supported for this environment.

  • 64-bit Windows Server 2008, or later Service Pack levels: Standard x64 or Enterprise x64 editions
  • 64-bit Windows Server 2008 R2, or later Service Pack levels: Standard x64 or Enterprise x64 editions
  • 64-bit Windows Server 2012, or later Service Pack levels: Standard x64 or Enterprise x64 editions
  • 64-bit Windows Server 2012 R2, or later Service Pack levels: Standard x64 or Enterprise x64 editions
  • 64-bit Windows Server 2016, or later Service Pack levels: Standard or Datacenter editions


The following operating systems are supported for the 64-bit Windows x64 platform:

  • 64-bit Windows Server 2008, or later Service Pack levels: Standard x64 or Enterprise x64 editions
  • 64-bit Windows Server 2008 R2, or later Service Pack levels: Standard x64 or Enterprise x64 editions
  • 64-bit Windows Server 2012, or later Service Pack levels: Standard x64 or Enterprise x64 editions
  • 64-bit Windows Server 2012 R2, or later Service Pack levels: Standard x64 or Enterprise x64 editions
  • 64-bit Windows Server 2016, or later Service Pack levels: Standard or Datacenter editions
  • 64-bit Windows Server 2019, or later Service Pack levels: Standard or Datacenter editions (beginning with HCL Domino 11 and  DP for Domino 7.1.0.3)


Applications


The following application levels are supported for the 64-bit AIX platform:

  • 64-bit Lotus Domino 8.5 Server, and later levels of 8.5.x
  • 64-bit IBM Domino 9.0 Server, and later levels of 9.0.x
  • 64-bit IBM Domino 10.0 Server, and later levels of 10.0.x (beginning with DP for Domino 7.1.0.2)
  • 64-bit HCL Domino 11.0 Server, and later levels of 11.0.x  (beginning with DP for Domino 7.1.0.2)
  • 64-bit HCL Domino 12.0 Server, and later levels of 12.0.x  (beginning with DP for Domino 7.1.0.2)


The following application levels are supported for the 64-bit Linux x86_64 platform:

  • 64-bit IBM Domino 9.0 Server, and later levels of 9.0.x
  • 64-bit IBM Domino 10.0 Server, and later levels of 10.0.x (beginning with DP for Domino 7.1.0.2)
  • 64-bit HCL Domino 11.0 Server, and later levels of 11.0.x  (beginning with DP for Domino 7.1.0.2)
  • 64-bit HCL Domino 12.0 Server, and later levels of 12.0.x  (beginning with DP for Domino 7.1.0.2)


The following application levels are supported for the 64-bit Linux on System z platform:

  • 64-bit Lotus Domino 8.5 Server, and later levels of 8.5.x
  • 64-bit IBM Domino 9.0 Server, and later levels of 9.0.x


The following application levels are supported for the 32-bit Windows x86 platform:

  • 32-bit Lotus Domino 8.5 Server, and later levels of 8.5.x
  • 32-bit IBM Domino 9.0 Server, and later levels of 9.0.x


The following application levels are supported for the Windows x86_64 platform:

  • Note: This "platform" represents an environment that runs 32-bit Domino Server and 32-bit Data Protection Domino with the 32-bit Tivoli Storage Manager API on a 64-bit version of Windows. The Data Protection for Domino plugin, which drives the Web and Java GUI interfaces, is not supported for this environment.

     
    • 32-bit Lotus Domino 8.5 Server, and later levels of 8.5.x
    • 32-bit IBM Domino 9.0 Server, and later levels of 9.0.x


The following application levels are supported for the 64-bit Windows x64 platform:

  • 64-bit IBM Domino 8.5 Server, and later levels of 8.5.x
  • 64-bit IBM Domino 9.0 Server, and later levels of 9.0.x
  • 64-bit IBM Domino 10.0 Server, and later levels of 10.0.x (beginning with DP for Domino 7.1.0.3)
  • 64-bit HCL Domino 11.0 Server, and later levels of 11.0.x (beginning with DP for Domino 7.1.0.3)
  • 64-bit HCL Domino 12.0 Server, and later levels of 12.0.x (beginning with DP for Domino 7.1.0.3)


Additional Operating Environments

Data Protection for IBM Domino supports IBM Domino environments where either the native IBM Domino database or a DB2 database is used. The following DB2 database levels are supported as defined by the IBM Domino's own hardware and software requirements documentation.

    • Any version of DB2 supported by the level of IBM Domino in use


Additional installation prerequisites


For the Linux x86_64 platform

The following prerequisites are required by the product installer:

  • Java JRE 7 and later 7.x levels


Linux on System Z platform

The following prerequisite is required by the product installer:

  • Java JRE 7 and later 7.x levels


Windows x86 platform

The following prerequisite is required, and is installed automatically by Data Protection for IBM Domino 7.1, if not already present on your machine.

  • 32-bit Microsoft Visual C++ 2012 Redistributable Package

    Available from:
    x:\domino\windows\x32\client\ISSetupPrerequisites\Microsoft Visual C++ 2012 Service Update 1 Runtime Libraries (x86)\vcredist_x86.exe
    • Note: "x" in the above path represents the drive letter where the product DVD is mounted.

The Data Protection for Domino plugin, which drives the Web and Java GUI interfaces, is not supported for this environment.

Additional requirements for the use of TSM Central Scheduling, Web GUI and Java GUI

For the 32-bit Windows x86 platform:

  • 32-bit Tivoli Storage Manager Backup-Archive Client 7.1, or later 7.1.x update levels, releases, and versions


For all platforms except the 32-bit Windows x86 and Windows x86_64 platforms:

  • 64-bit Tivoli Storage Manager Backup-Archive Client 7.1 or 8.1 or later 7.1.x or 8.1.x update levels, releases, and versions
  • Note: There is no support for TSM Central Scheduling, the Web GUI, or the Java GUI on the Windows x86_64 platform.


Additional requirements for the use of Web GUI or Java GUI interface

IBM Domino requires certain versions of Java run time environment. In order to use the Web GUI interface or the Java GUI interface with Data Protection for Domino which also require Java, you must be using the version of Java required by Domino.IBM Domino includes Java as a part of its installation. Therefore, ensure that you are using a level of Java that is compatible with the level of the IBM Domino used in your environment.

  • Note: There is no support for TSM Central Scheduling, the Web GUI, or the Java GUI on the Windows x86_64 platform.


Additional requirements


For the 32-bit Windows platform:

  • 32-bit Tivoli Storage Manager (TSM) API Client 7.1, or later update levels, releases, and versions
    • Note: The 32-bit Tivoli Storage Manager API Version 7.1 is included and automatically installed with Data Protection for IBM Domino on the Windows x32 platform


For all 64-bit platforms:

  • 64-bit Tivoli Storage Manager (TSM) API Client 7.1 or 8.1, or later 7.1.x or 8.1.x update levels, releases, and versions
    • Note: The 64-bit Tivoli Storage Manager API Version 7.1 is included and automatically installed with Data Protection for IBM Domino on the Windows x64 and Windows x86_64 platforms.


For all platforms:

  • Any Tivoli Storage Manager Server (TSM) currently in support which is supported by the version of the TSM API Client, or TSM Backup-Archive Client, used in the environment

  • Data Protection for IBM Domino® plug-in
    The Data Protection for IBM Domino plug-in is no longer supported by v7.1.8 and v8.1.2 (and higher versions) of the Spectrum Protect backup-archive client. If the Data Protection for IBM Domino plug-in is installed and configured with a backup-archive client at v7.1.8 or v8.1.2 (and higher versions)  and the Spectrum Protect Server is also updated to v7.1.8 or v8.1.2 (and higher versions), the Web Client will no longer function.  However, the Java GUI shipped with v7.1.8 and  v8.1.2 (and higher versions) of the backup-archive client will continue to work with the IBM Domino plug-in and any supported version of the Spectrum Protect Server
