CM-REQ-4128 An input/output error occurred executing an external request to the connector "CM" when attempting to start Cognos BI in an SSL enabled Websphere Application Server
When attempting to start the IBM Cognos BI Server, deployed in an SSL enabled Websphere Container, a CM-REQ-4128 error message is encountered.
An error message is written to the <Cognos BI Install Path>\logs\cogserver.log occur. The error message is:
CM-REQ-4128 An input/output error occurred executing an external request to the
connector "CM". Remote host closed connection during handshake Cause:
Remote host closed connection during handshake Runtime Exception stack
trace: javax.net.ssl.SSLHandshakeException: Remote host closed
This is due to not importing the Cognos BI Certificate into the Websphere Application Server's truststore.
Resolving the problem
In order to correct this issue, you must export the IBM Cognos Certificate and import it into the Websphere Truststore.
To export the certificate, you must follow the instructions located in the section entitled "Copying the IBM Cognos certificate to another server"
