Question & Answer
Question
What fix(es) are needed to run TWSz on z/OS 2.1?
Cause
PM96890
Answer
If EWTROPTS HOLDJOB(YES) is
used - see http://www-01.ibm.com/support/docview.wss?uid=swg21961303
The only otheer specific APAR needed to run TWSZ on z/OS 2.1 is PM96890, and this only addresses
two specific functions:
(1) Assembling the JES3 exits
(2) Using the JCC (JCCTASK(YES) in the tracker OPCOPTS)
If you have neither of these functions in place (for example you use only JES2 and do not use JCC)
then you can run TWSz with z/OS 2.1 even if the fix for PM96890 is not applied.
The PTFs for PM96890 are available
UK98239 TWSz 8.5.0
UK98240 TWSz 8.5.1
UK98241 TWSz 8.6.0
UK98242 TWSz 9.1.0
No PTF is needed for the 9.2 release of TWSz. or release 9.3 of IWSz .
A new updated version of the EQQEXIT macro is provided
with the PTFs. You might need to review, reassemble and
re-linkedit the code (like SMF, JES exits) where it is used.
Note: If you are migrating from an earlier release of z/OS to z/OS 2.1, you may also have
to apply any TWSz maintenance related to the z/OS releases that you "skipped".
The relevant APARs have a FIXCAT keyword as follows:
z/OS 1.10 ZOS110T/K
z/OS 1.11 ZOS111T/K
z/OS 1.12 ZOS112T/K
z/OS 1.13 ZOS113T/K
So for example if you migrate from z/OS 1.12 to z/OS 2.1, you would need to apply
any TWSz maintenance for z/OS 1.13 as well as PM96890.
