Rational DOORS node locked license usage with Rational DOORS Web Access

Technote (FAQ)

Question

Is it possible to use IBM Rational DOORS node locked (Authorized User) license with IBM Rational DOORS Web Access?

Cause

Node locked license keys are meant only for thick clients (DOORS) and serves the license when application is accessed from the machine where the node locked license is deployed. Since DOORS Web Access is a web based tool it cannot pick up node locked license keys.

Answer

No, you cannot use DOORS node locked license with DOORS Web Access.

Node locked license keys are tied to the host id of the machine for which the license key is generated and when a web based tool like DOORS Web Access requests license through a browser host id of the machine from where it is accessed will request for a license which will not match with the generated data hence would not allow tool usage.

Note: To use DOORS Web Access, you need IBM RATIONAL DOORS WEB ACCESS LIC or IBM RATIONAL DOORS FLOATING LIC.
