Problem

Attempts to generate an IBM Rational Publishing Engine report on IBM Rational Focal Point elements linked to IBM Rational Requirements Composer artifacts results in error '401 - Unauthorized'

Symptom

The full error message is as follows:

CRRPE1064I Error in engine

com.ibm.rational.rpe.common.auth.AuthenticationException: 401 - Unauthorized

CRRPE3011E IBM Rational Publishing Engine error.

com.ibm.rational.rpe.common.auth.AuthenticationException: 401 - Unauthorized

CRRPE1064I Aborting engine execution...

Cause

This issue was identified as a product defect and logged under APAR PM97611. The Dynamic Data Source Configuration is not storing the password correctly causing the authentication error

Resolving The Problem

WORKAROUND:

Change the password for the Dynamic Data Source Configuration in Advanced tab in Properties tab window instead of the Dynamic configuration tab. This will save the correct password.
