Truncated file messages reported

Troubleshooting

Problem

Multiple messages - "File 'xxxx' truncated while reading in Shared Static mode" from the client error log.

Resolving The Problem

This is working as designed.

The above is an informational message the client backup gets this message when serialization is set to SHRSTATIC mode which means that the Tivoli Storage Manager Client backs up a file or directory only if it is not being modified during the backup. The Tivoli Storage Manager server will try to backup the file as many times as specified in the CHANGINGRETRIES client option. This message will be reported and it will not do a backup since Tivoli Storage Manager Client detects that the file is being truncated (shortened) during an attempt to backup the file.
