When defining a Task to run a Report from IBM Event Studio there are not all Prompt's available

Technote (troubleshooting)

Problem(Abstract)

When defining a Task to run a Report from IBM Event Studio there are not all Prompt's available.

Cause

The report contains prompt in several different locations. The cause is the definition of a parameter within a string variable.

Resolving the problem

A string variable can only contain layout functions. A parameter only within a layout function is not considered to be relevant for query execution, and it can happen that this parameter will then not be shown on the automatic prompt page. IBM Event Studio will only show those parameters, that are also shown on the automatic prompt page.

To make these parameters visible either on the automatic prompt page or in IBM Event Studio, you can make the report engine aware of this parameter, by adding the parameter to a report query.

The easiest way to perform this, is by adding an optional detail filter ?Parameter?=?Parameter? in one of the main queries. The resultset of the query will not change, however this parameter is now relevant for the execution of the query, and will therefore be shown on the automatic prompt page or in IBM Event Studio.
