Enterprise COBOL 5.1 IVP Linkedit - IEW2456E 9207 SYMBOL IGZXBST UNRESOLVED.

Troubleshooting


Problem

The user is installing the Enterprise COBOL V5R1 compiler and trying to linkedit an IVP. He gets the following error: IEW2456E 9207 SYMBOL IGZXBST UNRESOLVED. MEMBER COULD NOT BE INCLUDED FROM THE DESIGNATED CALL LIBRARY. and several other unresolved references. The Program Binder (link editor) ends with Condition 8.

Cause

This is because the Runtime Support for Enterprise COBOL V5 has not been installed.

Environment

LE/zOS V1R13 or V2R1

Diagnosing The Problem

PTFs are missing.

Resolving The Problem

Make sure the PTFs for the following APARs are applied:

OA40593, OA41268, OA42047, PM87183, PM88047, PM88048, PI33378, and PM88903.

OA40593, OA41268, OA42047 are Program Management APARs
PM87183, PM88047, PM88048 and PI33378 are LE APARs.

PM88903 is a C/C++ run-time library extension APAR.

Use FIXCAT list as instructed in the COBOL Program Directory to determine a more comprehensive list of required PTF's.
