Maximum value that can be set for "Initial Requirement #" through RPX scripts

Technote (FAQ)

Question

What is the maximum value that can be set for "Initial Requirement #" while renumbering the requirements through RPX scripts in IBM Rational Requisitepro(ReqPro)?

Cause

Maximum value that can be set for initial requirement # is 1,00,000 in ReqPro client, you will not be able to perform renumbering of requirements from the ReqPro client beyond 1,00,000.

Answer

Procedure:

Maximum value that can be set for Initial Requirement # while renumbering the requirements from RPX scripts depends on the size of TAG field under ReqPro.RQREQUIREMENTS table in SQL database.

Follow the steps mentioned below to verify the value set in TAG field:

  1. Login to SQL Server Management Studio

  2. Expand the database associated with the project.

  3. Expand Tables

  4. Expand ReqPro.RQREQUIREMENTS Table

  5. Check the size of TAG field in columns

Example:

If the TAG is of type integer with 9 digits (int(9),null) in the table, then the ID has a limit to 9 digits and if it is just integer (int, not null) then there is no limit.
