Problem
Deployment Engine cannot be installed on a machine with a 64-bit-Platforms but 32-bit-Java
Resolving The Problem
This failure is due to usage of JRE 32 bit on 64 bit machine. To enable compatibility, the OS remaps "Program Files" to "Program Files (x86)" for 32-bit applications.
DE recommends that a 64-bit JRE be used on 64-bit platforms and 32-bit JREs be used only on 32-bit platforms.
A 32-bit JRE can work on a 64-bit OS, but we will run into install issues.
64-bit Windows reserves "Program Files" for 64-bit applications, DE uses some native libraries and a 32-bit DLL can't be loaded inside a 64-bit JRE and vice versa. So a DE installed in a 64-bit JRE won't work on a 32-bit OS.
On Unix platforms which are 64 bit machine, JRE 64 bit should be used, there are library files which will be loaded inside a 64 bit JRE.
