Thumbnails to Videos - special user/ special community

Technote (troubleshooting)

Problem

One user wants to create Thumbnails for uploaded videos. The image files will be accepted (no error message). However, after completion, the thumbnails won't be displayed.

Another user tried the same thing, but it worked.

Diagnosing the problem

The Files trace shows the source of the error is a permissions issue:

[23.08.13 14:55:53:826 CEST] 0000003d MediaQueryDAO 1 EJPVJ9022E: Der

com.ibm.quickr.share.platform.exception.PermissionDeniedException:

directoryId=62B82272-1DAD-6906-C125-77B300226CB9] über keine
entsprechende Berechtigung verfügt.

The id and directoryId in the error refer to
john.doe@us.ibm.com, xd99330, xd99330@us.ibm.com. This
appears to be the user in the mediaAdmin J2C auth alias.
Add the xd99330 user to the Files application admin security role
mapping (Enterprise Applications > Files > Security role to user/group
mapping, Select 'admin' role > Map Users... > search for xd99330 and
add the user to the role). Save and sync the change to all nodes, then
restart the Files servers.

Resolving the problem

There have been scenarios where WAS begins to fail to register the
admin user. The best plan is to perform the mapping again to ensure
the settings get refreshed in WAS and synced out to all nodes, then
restart servers.

Ensure that the user associated with the j2c alias referenced in the
postHandler element of events-config.xml has the admin role in Files.
(Example: "connectionsAdmin" j2c alias) . (Note: If you have confirmed
that the admin role is there and there are still issues permissions
issues, you may need to perform the following steps to ensure that the
admin role is being applied)

Remove the corresponding j2c alias user from the admin role in Files
Perform a synchronization
Re-add the corresponding j2c alias user to the admin role in Files
Perform a synchronization
Restart Files

Ensure than an accurate events-config.xml is getting picked up properly.

Perform a synchronization
Restart News

Check the events-config.xml file and the j2c alias user's Files admin
role again to make sure that they are both still correct.
