How to set up TM1 10.1.x Operations Console with CAM security

Question & Answer

Question

Tips on how to set up TM1 Operations Console when using CAM security.

Answer

For the user name parameter, you must specify the namespace ID (not the namespace name). This can be found in Cognos Configuration, highlight the namespace which the user is a part of. In the resource properties, note the namespace ID. The user parameter will then be of the format namespaceID\username. e.g. LDAP\username. NOTE: the namespaceID is case-sensitive and aliases are not supported. See also technote 1636388.

The group will need to be set up on the BI server, containing the users who will log in to the Operations Console. In the OpsConfig.xml, the group parameter should be the CAMID, not the alias. The alias might be something like Cognos\monitor. The CAMID will be of the format: CAMID(":monitor"). This can be determined on the BI server, in IBM Cognos Administration. Under Security, find the group, click More, Set Properties, View the Search Path ID and URL. The value is the Search Path. Aliases are not supported. Group names are as seen in the Groups (control) dimension, in case of groups imported from Cognos.

All other configuration is as per the documentation. Note these tips are for TM1 10.1.x. Configuration in later version has changed, please view the documentation.
