Recording IBM WebSphere MQ messages yields "MQJE001: Completion Code '2', Reason '3068'"

Technote (troubleshooting)

Problem(Abstract)

Attempts to record IBM WebSphere MQ messages in the Recording Studio of IBM Rational Integration Tester (RIT) fail with error "MQRCCF_CFSL_COUNT_ERROR".

Symptom

When you start recording in Recording Studio an error window appears with either of the following messages:

  • Unable to start recording against queue manager - MQRCCF_CFSL_COUNT_ERROR [MQRC.3068].
    MQJE001: Completion Code '2', Reason '3068'.

  • Could not start monitoring of <queue name>.

There was a problem trying to configure recording for <queue name>
    MQJE001: Completion Code '2', Reason '3068'.

Cause

When you start recording, RIT creates the com.greenhat.intercept namelist and adds entries to it.
When you stop recording, RIT removes the entries from the namelist.

The error indicates that the namelist is full and cannot accept any more entries.
The maximum number of entries is 255.

If RIT has previously been used for recording and has not cleanly disconnected from MQ, old entries remain in the namelist.

Resolving the problem

Consult the IBM WebSphere MQ documentation in conjunction with this technote.

Existing entries in the namelist are not required. Consider either of the following steps.

DELETE OLD NAMELIST ENTRIES

  1. Open IBM WebSphere MQ Explorer.

  2. Expand the queue manager node in the tree.

  3. Click Namelists.

  4. Double-click com.greenhat.intercept and click Edit to remove some entries.

Each Event Monitor in Recording Studio results in 3 additional entries in the namelist.
You should not need to remove all existing entries.

DELETE THE NAMELIST

  1. Open IBM WebSphere MQ Explorer.

  2. Expand the queue manager node in the tree.

  3. Click Namelists.

  4. Right-click com.greenhat.intercept and delete it.

The next time you record, RIT will re-create the namelist and its entries.

Note:

If your system does not have MQ Explorer you can use the command line program runmqsc to perform these operations.
