OpenPages Report Writers are Encountering RQP-DEF-0103 Cross Join Error Messages When Adding Secondary Compliance Objects (i.e. SOXIssue)

Technote (FAQ)

Question

When an OpenPages report writer adds a secondary compliance object (a.k.a standalone GRC object type), a RQP-DEF-0103 cross join error occurs.

Cause

The report writer did not create a direct or indirect join the report.

Answer

If an OpenPages report writer attempts to drag and drop a secondary compliance object (a.k.a standalone GRC object type), a RQP-DEF-0103: Cross joins (between query subjects: [].[], [].[]) are not permitted for the user who has the identity '*' error occurs. For example:

Cross joins (between query subjects: [DEFAULT_PHY].[SOXRISK], [DEFAULT_PHY].[SOXISSUE]) are not permitted for the user who has the identity '*'.

The reason for the error is the OpenPages report writer did not manually create a direct or indirect join per the OpenPages Report Author's Guide (RAG). The report writer should refer to the OpenPages RAG and lookup 'Creating Joins.' If referring to the OpenPages 6.2.1 RAG, the 'Creating Joins' section starts on printed page 88 (or PDF page 98).
