Abstract

GSKit is used by IBM Content Manager OnDemand for Secure Sockets Layer (SSL) support. The version of GSKit used by Content Manager OnDemand is potentially vulnerable to the “Lucky Thirteen” security vulnerability. By default, Content Manager OnDemand does not use SSL for client-server communication and therefore Content Manager OnDemand is vulnerable only if SSL is enabled.

DESCRIPTION:
The Transport Layer Security (TLS) protocol as used in GSKit does not properly consider timing side-channel attacks on a MAC check requirement during the processing of malformed CBC padding, which potentially allows remote attackers to conduct distinguishing attacks and plaintext-recovery attacks via statistical analysis of timing data for crafted packets, otherwise known as the "Lucky Thirteen" issue.
