Running Host On-Demand 11.0.8 as a local client using Oracle JRE 1.7.0_25 fails to launch

Problem(Abstract)

Attempts to launch the IBM Rational Host On-Demand local client with Oracle JRE 1.7.0_25 results in a pop-up window indicating the application is blocked by security settings.

Symptom

The following pop-up displays when launching the Host On-Demand local client indicating 'Application Blocked by Security Settings':

Additionally, the Java console might display the following exception:

java.lang.NullPointerException

Cause

When using Oracle's JRE 1.7 Update 25 you experience unexpected behavior when trying to launch Host On-Demand on local client. This behavior is a known issue introduced by changes in the Oracle's new JRE 1.7 Update 25. The issue is documented at Oracle 's JRE Update Release Notes.

Resolving the problem

Host On-Demand 11.0.8 cumulative refresh pack does not support Oracle's JRE 1.7.0_25.

The highest Oracle's JRE supported by Host On-Demand is 1.7.0_21.
