Use of a comma as a decimal separator in Text Import Wizard of SPSS Statistics.

Technote (FAQ)

Question

There is a .csv file, which includes the number below:
0,01234
123456789,01

This uses a comma as decimal seperator. But importing the file using the Text Import Wizard of SPSS Statistics appears to ignore the comma and the data is incorrectly imported.
1,234
12,345,678,901

Cause

Incorrect locale was set on the SPSS Statistics instance.

Answer

In some languages, such as, German, use the comma as decimal separator. In order to resolve this problem and import the data correctly, please set the locale as German first and then import the .csv file.
