Resetting the RealsecureDB database passwords for SiteProtector components

Question

How do you reset the database passwords for SiteProtector components?

Answer

It is sometimes necessary to reset the password of the SiteProtector components in order to restore login access to the RealsecureDB database.The instructions below describe this procedure for the following components:

  • The Application Server
  • The Agent Manager
  • The Event Collector
  • The Security Fusion Module
Resetting the Application Server's password:

1.) Open SQL Server Management Studio on server on which the SiteProtector Database is installed.

2.) Go to Security -> Logins.

3.) Find the user titled "IssApp". Right click on the user and select "Properties".

4.) Change the password in the properties to something you will remember and click "OK".

5.) Find the user titled "RPDMLogin". Right click on the user and select "Properties".

6.) Change the password in the properties to something you will remember and click "OK".

7.) Open Windows Services on the server on which the SiteProtector Application Server is installed.

8.) Stop the following services:

SiteProtector Application Server Service
SiteProtector Sensor Controller Service

9.) Go to the following location:

\Program Files\ISS\SiteProtector\Application Server

10.) Run the CoreLogin.exe file.

11.) Using the same new passwords that you entered in SQL in the previous steps, change the passwords for the Application Server and click "OK".

12.) Start the two services that you stopped in step 8.

Resetting the Agent Manager's password:

1.) Open SQL Server Management Studio on server on which the SiteProtector Database is installed.

2.) Go to Security -> Logins.

3.) Find the login called AgentManager_COMPUTERNAME, where "COMPUTERNAME" is the name of the server on which the Agent Manager in installed. Right-click on the login and select "Properties".

4.) Change the password in the properties to something you will remember and click "OK".

5.) Open Windows Services on the server on which the Agent Manager is installed.

6.) Stop the issDaemon service.

7.) Go to the following location:

\Program Files\ISS\SiteProtector\Agent Manager

8.) Run the AMLogin.exe file.

9.) Using the same new password that you entered in SQL in the previous steps, change the password for the Agent Manager and click "OK".

10.) Start the issDaemon service.

Resetting the Event Collector's password:

1.) Open SQL Server Management Studio on server on which the SiteProtector Database is installed.

2.) Go to Security -> Logins.

3.) Find the login called EventCollector_COMPUTERNAME, where "COMPUTERNAME" is the name of the server on which the Event Collector in installed. Right-click on the login and select "Properties".

4.) Change the password in the properties to something you will remember and click "OK".

5.) Open Windows Services on the server on which the Event Collector is installed.

6.) Stop the issDaemon service.

7.) Go to the following location:

\Program Files\ISS\SiteProtector\Event Collector

8.) Run the ECLogin.exe file.

8.) Set it to use SQL Authentication and enter the same new password that you previously entered in SQL.

9.) Click "OK".

10.) Start the issDaemon service.

Resetting the Security Fusion's password:


1.) Open SQL Server Management Studio on server on which the SiteProtector Database is installed.

2.) Go to Security -> Logins.

3.) Find the user titled SecurityFusionModule_COMPUTERNAME, where "COMPUTERNAME" is the name of the server on which the Security Fusion Module in installed. Right click on the user and select "Properties".

4.) Change the password in the properties to something you will remember and click "OK".

5.) Open Windows Services on the server on which the Security Fusion Module is installed.

6.) Stop the issDaemon service.

7.) Go to the following location:

\Program Files\ISS\SiteProtector\SecurityFusionModule\

8.) Run the ChangeFusionPassword.exe file.

9.) Using the same new password that you entered in SQL in the previous steps, change the password for the Agent Manager and click "OK".

10.) Start the issDaemon service.

NOTE: There is a known issue in Security Fusion Module version 2.0. Sometimes upon a reboot of the Fusion machine, Fusion will revert to the previous password status and once again cause the module to be "Stopped" or "Offline" in the Console. Please refer to the following Technote Article that can resolve this recurring issue with a new "issdaemon.exe" file:
