Technote (troubleshooting)

Problem(Abstract)

The 'e' character appears in the partner/SFN database and cannot be removed by the graphic interface.

Symptom

The partners session are created normally in the $sterm interface, but after some time the "e" character appears in some fields without any possibility to remove it. The only solution is to use tom_prm to remove the characters. However after a while those chars appear again.

Cause

Running Connect:Express (CX) with a user which is more than 8 chars.

Environment

IBM Sterling Connect:Express Unix 1.5.0

Diagnosing the problem

The 'e' character appears in the partner/SFN database and cannot be removed by the graphic interface.
Using tom_prm with export, edit and import resolves the problem temporary.

Resolving the problem

This is fixed in FP10 to be released around end of September 2013. The work around is to execute CX under a user whose name length is <= 8 characters. The Fix is under RTC 382879.
