Abstract

WDI rule selection is not defined given multiple rules for a Data Transform map where all fields are the same except for the application sender, application receiver, and application password fields.

Content

It is possible to define multiple rules for a WDI Data Transformation map where all fields are the same except for the application sender, application receiver, and application password fields. For EDI input, these fields are used as part of the rule search. However, for non-EDI input, these fields are NOT used as part of the rule search, and are only used to override the output EDI group envelope sender, receiver, and password when applicable.

Given that all other fields on a DT map rule are the same, there could be rules, for example, with 1 or more application receiver values and another rule with no application receiver value. When this occurs, which of these rules WDI selects may be unpredictable,
and may vary due to factors such as the order the rules were added and the DB2 version and maintenance level.

CONCLUSION:

To ensure the correct rule is selected with the desired group
envelope overrides, it may be necessary to remove or deactivate
ambiguous rules from the database.
