IBM Support

SiteProtector Packages and Security Fusion Licensing

Question & Answer

Question

What are the differences between the IBM Security SiteProtector System packages?

Cause

Packages have been renamed over the past, confusing customers.

Answer

Over the years, IBM had various SiteProtector packages that included different components. The most recent packages were Bronze, Silver, and Gold. These packages have gone End of Market and have been replaced with new packages: Standard, Professional, and Unlimited.

The Flexera licensing for Security Fusion is now a boolean operator. Namely, with one license, the customer receives rights to use Fusion for as many devices as needed (unlimited). As such, the SiteProtector packages (Standard, Professional, Unlimited) each grant the customer one Fusion license and no additional Fusion licensing is required beyond this point.
This is markedly different from the previous SiteProtector packages (and previous Fusion ‘modules’) that granted only a specific count. When a customer migrates from an old package to a new one, there is no need to purchase Fusion (counts) separately. To manage additional sensors beyond the counts allowed within a package, customers may upgrade to the next package or alternatively may purchase “batches” of management entitlements for the type of sensor that they require (network, server, desktop).
Over time SiteProtector has gone through multiple name migrations. The above names are the current names. Older names translate as follows:

Older package names should be migrated at the time of renewal.
