Errors BMXAA6712E and BMXAA4176E Appear While Using Views

Technote (troubleshooting)

Problem(Abstract)

Certain views may cause errors to be displayed.

Symptom

For this case the client created a View with this View Where:

a.location = b.ancestor and a.siteid = b.siteid

and this View Select:

b.location,b.ancestor,a.classstructureid,a.ownergroup,
b.siteid,b.systemid,b.orgid

They created an Action of Type: Set Value and used the view to
copy the Ownergroup from the View to the SR table.

They created a Workflow process to use that Action.

When they Route the Workflow with the Action. The following
error message appears:

BMXAA4407E - A nested exception caused the workflow process to fail.
BMXAA6712E - The database connection failed and the record was
not retrieved. Try the operation again. If you experience
repeated failures, check the log files in the home directory or
contact your system administrator.

When they okay, and tried to route it again, the following message appears:

BMXAA4407E - A nested exception caused the workflow process to fail.
BMXAA4176E - Attribute OWNERGROUP does not exist. Gather the
logs from the <HOME> directory and determine the process or app
referencing the invalid attribute.

Cause

The cause of the problem is that Maximo is unable to use one character database table Aliases.

Resolving the problem

The workaround is to use 2 or more characters for the Alias.

Instead of a.ancestor use aa.ancestor.

This problem is being tracked as APAR IV45837 which will be fixed in a future version of Maximo.
