Abstract
This document includes information regarding Tivoli Storage Manager (TSM) for Databases: Data Protection for Microsoft SQL Server Version 7.1 compatibility with earlier releases.

- Existing backups created using previous versions of Tivoli Storage Manager (TSM) for Databases: Data Protection for Microsoft SQL Server can be restored using Data Protection for Microsoft SQL Server 7.1.x within the constraints of the platforms and applications supported by the 7.1 release.
- New backups created with Data Protection for Microsoft SQL Server 7.1.x cannot be restored using previous versions of Data Protection for Microsoft SQL Server.
- Data Protection for Microsoft SQL Server 7.1.x can be used with:
- Tivoli Storage FlashCopy Manager 4.1.x
- The following platforms supported with Data Protection for Microsoft SQL Server 6.4.x are no longer supported with the 7.1 release.
- No hardware platforms were dropped with the 7.1 release.
- The following operating systems supported in Data Protection for Microsoft SQL Server 6.4 are no longer supported with the 7.1 release:
- No operating systems were dropped with the 7.1 release.
- The following application level supported Data Protection for Microsoft SQL Server 6.4.x is no longer supported with the 7.1 release:
- No applications levels were dropped with the 7.1 release.
