Encrypting passwords before their use
Can you encrypt a password for use with Rational Integration Tester (RIT) of IBM Rational Test Workbench (RTW)?
- You need to use a password in a connection configuration within a RIT project.
- The owner of the password cannot tell you the contents of the password due to security constraints.
- An example would be a database connection where the database administrator retains the password detail.
You cannot currently enter encrypted passwords into the password fields in RIT.
Passwords that are entered in RIT are hidden from view and are encrypted when stored in the project files. This prevents users from seeing or retrieving the original password text.
The password owner should enter the password into the RIT configuration.
