Abstract
Under certain conditions, Tivoli Storage Manager clients might not be able to restore and retrieve data from a Tivoli Storage Manager target replication server.
Content
PROBLEM SUMMARY
After a successful node replication operation, Tivoli Storage Manager clients cannot restore or retrieve data from the target replication server if the following steps were completed:
1. Files were backed up or archived from client Node A to a source replication server.
2. File attributes were updated from client Node A to the source replication server.
3. Node replication was performed for Node A to replicate the files to the target replication server.
In this case, the replicated files on the target replication server will not contain the updated file attributes, and subsequent client restore or retrieve operations might fail.
WHO IS AFFECTED:
Users of Tivoli Storage Manager V6.3 and later.
RECOMMENDATION:
Apply the Tivoli Storage Manager server V6.3.4.200 or V6.3.5.000 fixing levels, which include a fix for APAR IC94017.
For the files that are already replicated to the target replication server, follow the steps in the CIRCUMVENTION section to correct the file attributes for the replicated files on the target replication server.
PROBLEM RESOLUTION:
If the V6.3.4.200 or V6.3.5.000 fixing level is applied, the new replicated files on the target replication server will have the correct file attributes after a successful node replication. The release of V6.3.4.200 and V6.3.5.000 is subject to the discretion of IBM.
CIRCUMVENTION:
Complete the following steps:
- On the source replication server, run the following DB2 commands for each replicated node. Replace REPL_NODE_NAME with the actual node name.
db2 connect to tsmdb1
current timezone where nodeid in (select nodeid from tsmdb1.nodes
where nodename='REPL_NODE_NAME')"
2. Run the REPLICATE NODE command for the node again.
