It is possible to obtain or manipulate a user's session cookies, allowing an attacker to view or alter user records and to perform transactions as that user.

The online help pages in the Command Center Web Client are vunerable to a client-side DOM based cross-site scripting attack where an attacker will be able inject malicious code and thereby get access to impersonate the legitimate user and perform actions on behalf of that user.

AFFECTED PRODUCTS: Star Command Center 1.6.1 through 3.0.7

The recommended solution is to upgrade to the latest version of Cognos Command Centre. Alternatively the work-around below may be used.

Vendor Fix(es):
Upgrade to IBM Cognos Command Center 10.1.

On servers where the Star Command Center Web Client component is installed, delete the INSTALLDIR\Web\Content\Help directory where INSTALLDIR is the base installation directory.

This vulnerability only affects users of Internet Explorer.
