IBM Support

The "IPC Key duplicated" error message occurs when multiple instances of IBM Sterling Connect:Express for UNIX are installed on the same server.

Troubleshooting

Problem

The "IPC key error message" occurs when multiple instances of IBM Sterling Connect:Express for UNIX are installed on the same server.

Resolving The Problem

The use of the variable $ TOM_QUEUE solves this problem. If multiple monitors of the IBM Sterling Connect:Express for UNIX are installed on the same server, then the variable $TOM_QUEUE is required in each monitor profile, with different names. Use the name of the monitor (4-digit) as the installation directory of the product.

For example, assume 3 monitors are installed: tom1, tom2 and tom3. In the profile of the tom1 monitor, export the variable TOM_QUEUE as tom1; in the profile of tom2, export the variable TOM_QUEUE as tom2 and in the profile of tom3, export the variable TOM_QUEUE as tom3.
As long as one of the first four characters of this variable is different, each monitor will have a single CPI Key.
