Creating a WI in RTC results in "Error fetching or storing Task X" error in web browser only

Troubleshooting


Problem

Attempts to create a Work-Item in IBM Rational Team Concert results in the error "Error loading properties for editing the work item" in web browser only.

Symptom

The full error message is as follows:

Error fetching or storing Task X | Details: Error loading properties for editing the work item

This behavior is observed only after a upgrade.

The WI creation fails on in the web-client only and works as expected in the Eclipse client

Cause

The Operational behavior scripts and follow-up actions are not upgraded and it fails to run the required action resulting in the failure to create a work-item.

Resolving The Problem

Procedure:

  1. Login to the RTC Eclipse Client

  2. Click Process Configuration

  3. Click Team Configuration

  4. Click Operational Behavior

  5. Remove all Preconditions and follow-up actions

  6. Save the Project Area

  7. Create a new Work-Item

Note: If you need the customizations that were implemented in earlier versions, these steps should be redone on the upgraded version.
