Accented characters are replaced by blank spaces in a PDF file that is opened in the information center

Technote (troubleshooting)

Problem(Abstract)

This problem occurs with Mozilla Firefox Version 21.0. It affects both the help information center and the product information center. When you click a table of contents entry that is linked to a PDF file, the Adobe™ Reader add-on displays the contents of the PDF file in the browser frame in the usual way. However, every accented character in the text is displayed as a blank space. This problem is especially noticeable in languages that commonly use accented characters, such as Brazilian Portuguese, French, German, and Spanish.

Resolving the problem

To resolve this problem, install FireFox Version 22.0 or later.
