How to remove Metrics button from displaying in Connections

Problem

How to prevent the message "The Cognos server is unavailable and cannot provide metrics. Contact your administrator." from displaying when Cognos is not installed.

Symptom

When choosing the Metrics button in Connections, the following message displays:
"The Cognos server is unavailable and cannot provide metrics. Contact your administrator."


Cause

This occurs when the Metrics Application is installed in Connections but not Cognos. Metrics needs to be disabled to prevent the Metrics button from displaying in Connections.


Environment

Connections 4.5 Linux

Diagnosing the problem

This issue can be seen if the Metrics application is installed but Cognos is not used.

Resolving the problem

When the Metrics application is installed but Cognos is not used, the Metrics link can be disabled by editing the file LCC.xml and ensure the following settings are set to "false":


With the above settings in place, the Metrics link will no longer display. Following is an example:

Note: The Metrics link no longer displays in the Community for Blogs/Ideation Blogs/Wikis.
