Validation fails with a disabled constraint

Technote (troubleshooting)

Problem(Abstract)

When you try to validate a model in IBM Rational Software Architect (RSA), you receive the error message: "The constraint <ProfilName>::<StereotypeName>::<ConstraintName> is disabled. It will not be evaluated".

Cause

This error happens if one of your UML elements has a stereotype applied to it that comes from a profile which is referred to by the model but incorrectly applied to it. The exact reason why such a situation would happen is unknown.

Resolving the problem

SOLUTION

  1. Remove all the stereotypes that refer to the corrupted profile

  2. Remove the profile

  3. Add the profile again from the list of profiles that RSA offers

  4. Recreate the stereotypes
