Abstract

Some WebSphere Commerce data may be encrypted using an encryption algorithm that is susceptible to a padding oracle attack which may allow for the disclosure of user personal data.

CVE ID: CVE-2013-0523

DESCRIPTION: On some storefront web requests, data may be encrypted using an algorithm that is vulnerable to padding oracle attacks. This can allow the data to be decrypted without needing the encryption key, thereby leading to disclosure of information. This information can include user personal data. The attack does not need local network access, but does require access to a shopper's browser or access to network traffic logs.

REMEDIATION:
Vendor Fix(es): For supported versions, open a Problem Management Record (PMR) with IBM WebSphere Commerce Support to request an Interim Fix for APAR JR46386 and include your WebSphere Commerce version including Fix Pack level. For out of support versions, we recommend that you upgrade to a supported version.
