Troubleshooting
Problem
An "installation cannot continue" error occurs in version 9.0 on the Linux platform as a non-administrator is Eclipse Software Installer has been used.
Symptom
On a Linux platform, when you start the product of version 9.0 as non-administrator, there is an error if you have used Eclipse Software Installer to install additional software. This happens when the product was installed as administrator into an existing Eclipse 4.2.2 instance. This error occurs:
The items selected for install include a software feature (com.ibm.rcp.dombrowser.feature.feature.jar) that requires install procedures from the older Eclipse Update Manager. The installation cannot continue.
Cause
The com.ibm.rcp.dombrowser.feature
feature installed with RSA has a missing dependency.
Resolving The Problem
You can resolve the issue by updating Rational Software Architect to version 9.0.0.1 or later.
If you want to stay in version 9.0.0, you can update the com.ibm.rcp.dombrowser.feature
feature following these steps:
- Download the attached two zip files: features.zip and plugins.zip
- Unzip them to get two folders(including the files in the folders): features and plugins
- Copy the features and plugins into the installation folder, which, by default, is SDP.
