Where to report cases of SPAM that pass thru LPMS undetected

Question

How do you report a messages that made it thru the LPMS Spam system? You may choose to add a button to your mail template to automate this process. Instructions are below.

Answer

Please report cases of SPAM to spam@kassel.ibm.com

Prior to forwarding the message, please save the messages in a .eml format.

File-> Save As:

Once you have the message in an .eml format, simply attach it to a new memo and send it to spam@kassel.ibm.com

Creating a button in your mail file to report Spam to IBM

This Notes.ini parameter needs to be added to the Notes Client Notes.ini. You can push out this parameter to your Notes Clients through a policy. More information on the policy is located here: http://www-01.ibm.com/support/docview.wss?uid=swg21196837

$IBM_SPAM_TARGET=spam@kassel.ibm.com

Pre-Requirements:

  • Lotus Notes Client version 8.5.2 or higher
  • Designer to adjust Notes mail template
  • Mail template must be (or is based on) mail85.ntf
  • Save the attached ReportasSpam_Action file somewhere on your computer

ReportAsSpam_Action

Create the Shared Action:
  • Open the Notes mail template in Notes Designer
  • Select Code->Shared Actions on the left side Navigations pane
  • Click New Shared Action
  • Set name to: Report as Spam
  • Application stays as is
  • Click OK
  • Select Client and LotusScript in the right frame (Programmers pane)
  • Right click into the Programmers pane and select Import ...
  • Select the ReportAsSpam_Action file that you have saved on your computer before
    NOTE: The file might not be visible in the import dialog, simply type in the file name and click Import
  • Save and close the Shared Action
Add the Shared Action to Views and Folders
  • Open Message under Forms in the Navigations pane
  • In the right frame click on Insert Shared Action
  • Select Report as Spam and click OK
  • Save and Close the Form view
  • Open $Inbox under Folders in the Navigations pane
  • In the right frame click on Insert Shared Action
  • Select Report as Spam and click OK
  • Save and Close the Folder view
  • Open $JunkMail under Folders in the Navigations pane
  • In the right frame click on Insert Shared Action
  • Select Report as Spam and click OK
  • Save and Close the Folder view
Now you can close the Designer and replace the mail database design with the adjusted mail template.
