Tivoli Storage Manager server acsls tape mount hang

Problem(Abstract)

A Tivoli Storage Manager server using an ACSLS library configured in conjunction with Gresham’s EDT-DistribuTAPE as an external library manager (ELM), fails to mount tapes.

Symptom

There are no errors logged in the Tivoli Storage Manager server activity log. The mount operation does not complete. For example :

The QUERY MOUNT command shows :

ANR8379I Mount point in device class EDTCLASS is waiting for the volume mount to complete, status: WAITING FOR VOLUME.


Resolving the problem

Contact the External library manager support to diagnose the mount hang. In this case, the external library is Gresham’s EDT-DistribuTAPE and there was an incorrect drive mapping in the Gresham ELM.CONF configuration file.
