Product lifecycle


Abstract

This document is provided as a historical reference to the Q1Labs support lifecycle policy and applies to QRadar product releases before and after IBM's acquisition.

QRadar End of Life Policy
Q1 Labs product and software releases may reach the end of their product lifecycle for several reasons, including hardware platform changes or software upgrades that provide customers with the most up to date technology and functionality. Q1 Labs recognizes that product and software End of Life milestones may impact our customers. For that reason, the Q1 Labs End of Life Policy defines the terms and target milestones for products approaching End of Life. Q1 Labs is also committed to communicating important End of Life milestones to our customers and partners so they can plan accordingly.

Policy Definitions

End of Life Announcement
Typically Occurs: 90 days before End of Sale
An End of Life Announcement will communicate the beginning of the End of Life cycle. For QRadar Appliances and products, the announcement will be provided at least 90 days in advance of the product End of Sale date at which time the product will be removed from the price list and will no longer be available for purchase. For QRadar software versions, the announcement will be made 90 days prior to End of Engineering date at which time the software will no longer be supported or made available to customers or partners.

End of Sale
The End of Sale date marks the time at which the product is removed from the price list and is no longer available for purchase. For QRadar software, End of Sale marks the general availability of the next version of software. Upon the End of Sale announcement, the next software version will ship with new appliance and customer software purchases.

End of Engineering
Typically Occurs: 12 months after general availability of a software release or two software version releases (major or maintenance, i.e. 6.1 or 6.1.1). The End of Engineering date marks the time at which Q1 Labs will no longer provide defect fixes or updates for a product or software revision. Software versions that have reached End of Engineering will no longer be made available for download.

End of Support
Typically Occurs: 12 months after End of Engineering
The End of Support date marks the time at which Q1 Labs no longer provides technical support for a product or software revision.

QRadar Appliances and Software General Support Terms

Software
QRadar software releases will be supported for 12 months after the general availability of the software or until two subsequent releases (maintenance or major) become generally available, which ever comes first. When either of the two conditions described above are met for a software release this will mark the End of Engineering for the software release.

Until the End of Engineering date, Q1 Labs will provide the following engineering support and services:

  • Security Updates
  • Auto-Update
  • New DSMs and Updates (Note that DSMs will be supported for current major software version and last major version, E.g. 6.2 and 6.1).
  • Maintenance Release (only for current release) and Patches.
  • Technical Support

Q1 Labs will provide technical support up to 12 months after the End of Engineering date for software releases. At this time, the software release will have reached it’s End of Support date.

QRadar Appliances
Q1 Labs provides a limited 60 day warranty for QRadar Appliances (if a support contract is not purchased). In addition, Appliance support services (outlined below) are extended annually with the purchase of a Q1 labs maintenance contract for up to 5 years after the date of purchase of the QRadar Appliance. The End of Engineering and End of Support date will be 5 years after date of purchase. At least 90 days prior to the 5 years End of Engineering and End of Support date, Q1 Labs will provide a hardware upgrade option to replace eligible appliances.

Maintenance Contracts and End of Life
Engineering and Technical support is limited to customers who have purchased maintenance contracts prior to the products End of Life announcement.
