Troubleshooting
Problem
A Tivoli Storage Manager server is upgraded from 6.2.4.0 to 6.3.3.0. The upgrade completes successfully but the instance fails to start following the upgrade.
Symptom
The following messages are logged when the Tivoli Storage Manager server instance is started :
ANR7801I Subsystem process ID is 6619266.
ANR0900I Processing options file /home/tsminst1/dsmserv.opt.
ANR7811I Using instance directory /home/van/vaninst.
ANR4726I The ICC support module has been loaded.
ANR0990I Server restart-recovery in progress.
ANR0151W Database manager fails to start. For more information about the failure, issue the db2start command.
ANR0172I rdbdb.c(1650): Error encountered performing action InstanceStop.
ANR0162W Supplemental database diagnostic information: -1025:**No State Information Available -2)**:-1025 (SQL1025N The database manager was not stopped because databases are still active.
Diagnosing The Problem
The error messages indicate that the server instance cannot be stopped. Running the db2stop force command shows the following errors :
$ db2stop force
exec(): 0509-036 Cannot load program db2stop2 because of the following errors:
0509-130 Symbol resolution failed for db2stop2 because:
0509-136 Symbol sqlhaOfflineDB2Partition__FPCcCi (number 60) is not exported from dependent module /opt/tivoli/tsm/db2/lib64/libdb2e.a[shr_64.o].
0509-136 Symbol sqlhaOnlineDB2Partition__FPCcCi (number 61) is not exported from dependent module /opt/tivoli/tsm/db2/lib64/libdb2e.a[shr_64.o].
0509-192 Examine .loader section symbols with the 'dump -Tv' command.
Resolving The Problem
Logon with the root user and run the following command :
/opt/tivoli/tsm/db2/instance/db2iupdt <instance_name>
For example, when the server instance is named tsminst1, the command would be :
/opt/tivoli/tsm/db2/instance/db2iupdt tsminst1
Then, logon with the instance userid and start the Tivoli Storage Manager Server instance.
