Technote (troubleshooting)

Problem(Abstract)

You execute the oninit command and a warning is printed to the terminal stating that the line is too long for a configuration parameter, It is the last parameter in the configuration file.

Symptom

You execute oninit and a message like the following is printed to the terminal:

WARNING: AUTO_LRU_TUNING line too long in ONCONFIG file

The configuration parameter referenced, in this case AUTO_LRU_TUNING, is the last parameter listed in the configuration file.

You may see the same warning when executing other utilities:

Cause

Your configuration file is missing the last line feed (newline) character ('\n').

Diagnosing the problem

Use the unix/linux octal dump utility to confirm, as follows:

% od  -c  <filename>

These are the last few lines of an octal dump containing the newline as expected:

0214260    r   t   y   =   5   0   .   0   0   ,   l   r   u   _   m   a
0214300    x   _   d   i   r   t   y   =   6   0   .   0   0  \n   A   U
0214320    T   O   _   L   R   U   _   T   U   N   I   N   G       1  \n
0214340

Note: The error message may reflect other problems in the configuration file.
