Searching and installing system package updates from the CLI

Technote (FAQ)

Question

Beginning with firmware 2.8, Lotus Protector does have the option to install so called 'System Packages'. The 'System Packages' are typically updates for components of the underlaying Linux operating system (e.g. to fix vulnerabilities in certain system components). Usually the check and download for updates will be done via 'Updates | Updates & Licensing | System Packages' or the system is set to do the installation of the updated system packages automatically (Updates | Automatic Updates | System Packages --> Automatically Download and Install Updates (every day at 3 AM)). But sometimes it might be required to control the 'System Packages' updates from the command line.

Answer

Initialization of the update repository (note: this is only required if there are errors about getting the status for the 'System Packages' updates):
PYTHONPATH=/usr/bin repo.py init -c -m

Check for updates and list available updates:
PYTHONPATH=/usr/bin repo.py check -m

Download and install available updates:
PYTHONPATH=/usr/bin repo.py upgrade -m

Sceenshot from the web-GUI
