Target Deployment Port generation results in error "illegal instruction"

Problem

Attempts to generate the Target Deployment Port (TDP) using the TDP editor result in error "The NTVDM CPU has encountered an illegal instruction"

Symptom

"The NTVDM CPU has encountered an illegal instruction" error message pops up

Cause

Running the 32-bit TDP editor in a 16-bit environment is a possible cause.

Resolving The Problem

WORKAROUND


Generate the TDP from the command line.



tdpgen <pathNameOfTheXdp> <PathWhereToGenerate>


The tdpgen binary location is C:\Program Files\IBM\TestRealTime\bin\intel\win32
