databasejava.sql.SQLException encountered when running startAllServers.sh for OpenPages

Technote (troubleshooting)

Problem(Abstract)

When startAllServers.sh is run, and exception is shown as follows:

Unable to connect to databasejava.sql.SQLException: ORA-01017: invalid username/password; logon denied

Cause

The database login credentials are set to values that are not correct.

Diagnosing the problem

The output of running startAllServers.sh shows the following exception when trying to check if the database is available before starting the Openpages services:

Unable to connect to databasejava.sql.SQLException: ORA-01017: invalid username/password; logon denied

Resolving the problem

The aurora.properties file contains the settings for the database login that is used by the x during startup of running startAllServers.sh:

database.USERID=
database.PASSWORD=

The values after the equals sign (=) should be set to the correct values in clear text, and the file saved.

Note that the database.PASSWORD value will be encrypted when startAllServers.sh is run.

Once this is done, run startAllServers.sh.

If this does not resolve the issue, please follow the instructions in the OpenPages Administrators Guide for "WAS - Modify the JDBC Data Source Password:".
