IBM Cognos ICM - Adding partition with null values

Technote (FAQ)

Question

When having multiple sources is a calculation, is there a way to display rows with null in the partition column?

Cause

Rows having null in the partition column are not displayed.

Answer

The default behavior is that when a calculated result partition is empty, it will be excluded.

This behavior can be changed, in order for the rows having null in the partition column to be displayed as well: there is the option to check 'Include Empty Partitions' on the partitions screen. This will add an additional prompt and will indicate that zeros should be added to any empty results. IBM is highly recommending NOT to use this feature, as, for obvious reasons, the impact on performance might be dramatic.
