Perimeter Server install fails in SILENT mode

Technote (troubleshooting)

Install a Perimeter Server (PS) in SILENT mode on a Windows 2003 Server, but it fails with an "unknown option" error.

Install a PS in SILENT mode on a Windows 2003 Server with following command string :-

C:\"Program Files"\Java\jdk1.6.0_24\bin\java -Xmx512m -jar C:\PS\ps_4060401.jar -f C:\PS\SYSU_PS_DEV_01.silent

The installation fails with error message:

Perimeter DMZ component Installation program
EXITING: java.lang.Exception: unknown option: ûf

The '-' in '-f' in the install command string was a different hex character to the normal dash (hex 2D). It had hex character 96.

Diagnosing the problem

Cut and paste the command string into a hex editor.

Resolving the problem

Replace the incorrect hyphen character (hex 96) with dash (hex 2D).
