UA67027 Support for User EMCS console pool

Fix Readme

Abstract

PTF UA67027 provides support for a new user pool of EMCS consoles to be used by the OPER RESP command. These consoles will not be included in the normal OPER RESP console selection process.

Content

Sometimes it's necessary to authorize a console to issue commands to a particular task or to issue a certain command. To allocate a console for one particular use, and to avoid the possibility that the console is busy and being used by another OPER RESP command, there is now a 'user pool' of EMCS consoles.

The consoles allocated in the 'user pool' will never be selected automatically for use by any other OPER RESP, they are reserved for the user and only used when specifically chosen by the user via the CONSOLE keyword on an OPER RESP.

A new USERLIM(nnn) sub-parameter has been added to the CONSOLE startup parameter. The new USERLIM keyword can be used to allocate a number of EMCS consoles that will not be selected for use automatically by the OPER RESP command. To use them for OPER RESP they must be coded explicitly by name in the CONSOLE keyword.

USERLIM(0) is the default, the maximum is 999.

The 'user' pool of EMCS console are named in a similar way to those allocated via the LIMIT sub-parameter. The 'user' pool console names are the PREFIX value, a 3 digit sequence
number (starting at 001) and the suffix character 'U'. For example, with PREFIX(CONS) you get CONS001U, CONS002U etc.

The maximum TIMEOUT value that can be coded on an OPER RESP is increased from 3600 to 7200.

Additionally the following new SYSTEM variables have been added:

AOCONTYP - Character, read only variable containing the type
of consoles being used by this AF task as specified
on the CONSOLE TYPE startup parameter. The value is
either 'EMCS' or 'SUBSYS'.

AOCONLIM - Integer, read only variable containing the number
of consoles specified on the CONSOLE LIMIT startup
parameter.

AOCONPFX - Character, read only variable containing the 1-4
byte prefix specified on the CONSOLE PREFIX startup
parameter.

AOCONULM - Integer, read only variable containing the number
of consoles specified on the CONSOLE USERLIM
startup parameter.

AOFLDCTL - Integer, read only variable containing the number
of duplicate WTO matches that is considered to be
a flood condition. As specified on the FLOODCNTL
startup parameter.

AOJRNTYP - Character, read only variable containing the SLF
type of this AF task. As specified on the JOURNAL
startup parameter. If set the value is either
'LOCAL' or 'REMOTE'.

AOJRNARC - Character, read only variable containing the name
of the archive procedure that starts automatically
when the VSAM backup dataset for SLF is full. As
specified on the JOURNAL ARCHIVE startup parameter.

AOJRNMOD - Character, read only variable containing the task
name used to communicate directly to the SLF journal
task via the modify command. As specified on the
JOURNAL MODIFY startup parameter.

AOJRNSFX - Integer, read only variable containing the value
between 1 and 15 that is used to interconnect SLF
tasks throughout a SYSPLEX. As specified on the
JOURNAL SUFFIX startup parameter.
