Export Output (.spv) to a TXT file creates blank first row.
When exporting an SPSS Output file to TXT, a blank line is created in the first row of the exported Text (.txt) file.
Launch Statistics 19, run an analysis with tables. Export the SPSS Output table to a TXT (Text) file.
The first row of the text file is blank. This causes issues when the text file is used programmatically as an import file and the first row is blank. The text files have to be manually edited to remove the first blank line before they can be used.
Resolving the problem
This issue should be platform independent; however, it has been verified, tested, and resolved in Statistics 21 Fix Pack 1, on a Windows Platform only.
Using OMS to export the Text (.txt) file will NOT create a blank line in the first row.
Here is a Syntax Example using one of our shipped sample files (Employee data.sav).
* Get and Open a sample dataset Employee data.sav.
FILE='C:\Program Files\IBM\SPSS\Statistics\19\Samples\English\Employee data.sav'.
DATASET NAME DataSet1 WINDOW=FRONT.
/IF COMMANDS=['Frequencies'] SUBTYPES=['Frequencies']
