Script library codes in non-English language pubnames.ntf are broken

Technote (troubleshooting)

Problem

If you open a non-English (e.g., Japanese) pubnames.ntf in Domino Designer, some red 'x' icons will appear in the left navigator frame. If you then open each red 'x' design element, you will find that all native characters display incorrectly.

Cause

The root cause of this issue is that the default workspace's text file encoding property is incorrect in Designer. It should be set to "UTF-8", instead of special language encoding.

Resolving the problem

This issue has been reported to Quality Engineering as SPR # LRGU8MGBKH

To resolve the issue, set the workspace encoding to UTF-8:

1. Select File -> Preferences to open the Designer Preferences dialog,

2. Select General -> Workspace

3. Change the 'Other - Text file encoding' option to "UTF-8".
