Omegamon II crash when VTAM stopped

Technote (FAQ)

Question

Why does Omegamon II fail when VTAM is stopped?

Answer

Omegamon II was running.

The z/OS operator did this command: Z NET,CANCEL

As a consequence the Omegamon II process failed with an S0A7 abend.

The Omegamon process is not prepared to handle this circumstance and so it fails.

Summary:

If VTAM needs to be stopped, then Omegamon II and other ITM processes running on z/OS should be stopped first.
