How to set the Auto-define option by default from the configuration file in Rational System Architect

Technote (FAQ)

Question

How do you set the Auto-define option by default from the configuration file in IBM Rational System Architect?

Cause

The default way to set the Auto-define option is from the Menu tool bar: Tools> Preferences.
There is another way to set Auto-define by default directly from the configuration file.

Answer

The Auto-define option can be set by default from the SA2001.ini file as follows:

  1. Locate the SA2001.ini file.
By default under the user profile (<user profile>\AppData\Local\Telelogic\System Architect\)

  2. Edit the SA2001.ini file using a text editor.

  3. Find the section [SystemArchitect] and the next line is where the default settings are defined. These are values of the different Preferences options.
    For example: Default=N,N,N,N,Y,Y,Y,N,N,N,N,N,...

  4. Change the Auto-Define setting to Y. This is the 8th value.
    For example: Default=N,N,N,N,Y,Y,Y,Y,N,N,N,N,...

  5. Save the file and close the editor.

  6. Restart Rational System Architect.
