How do I enable WebSphere Adapter for JDBC inbound module to work in High Availability Active-Active mode

Technote (FAQ)

Question

In a cluster, how do I enable WebSphere Adapter for JDBC inbound module to work in High Availability Active-Active mode?

Answer

Before version 7.5, all of the JDBC Adapter instances are registered with the HAManager with a policy 1 of N to avoid duplicate messages. This policy means that only one of the Adapter instances starts polling for events.

Since version 7.5, WebSphere Adapter for JDBC inbound module is able to work in High Availability Active-Active mode. Refer to the page below for details
http://pic.dhe.ibm.com/infocenter/dmndhelp/v7r5m1/topic/com.ibm.wsadapters.jca.jdbc.doc/env/shared/csha_performance.html

Users should note that the event table structure is different between V7.0 and V7.5, as demonstrated below:

Version 7.0:
CREATE TABLE WBIA_JDBC_EVENTSTORE
(
EVENT_ID INTEGER NOT NULL PRIMARY KEY,
XID VARCHAR2(200),
OBJECT_KEY VARCHAR2(80) NOT NULL,
OBJECT_NAME VARCHAR2(40) NOT NULL,
OBJECT_FUNCTION VARCHAR2(40) NOT NULL,
EVENT_PRIORITY INTEGER NOT NULL,
EVENT_TIME TIMESTAMP,
EVENT_STATUS INTEGER NOT NULL,
EVENT_COMMENT VARCHAR2(100)
);

Version 7.5
CREATE TABLE WBIA_JDBC_EVENTSTORE
(
EVENT_ID INTEGER NOT NULL PRIMARY KEY,
XID VARCHAR2(200),
OBJECT_KEY VARCHAR2(80) NOT NULL,
OBJECT_NAME VARCHAR2(40) NOT NULL,
OBJECT_FUNCTION VARCHAR2(40) NOT NULL,
EVENT_PRIORITY INTEGER NOT NULL,
EVENT_TIME TIMESTAMP,
EVENT_STATUS INTEGER NOT NULL,
EVENT_TIMEOUT TIMESTAMP,
CONNECTOR_ID VARCHAR2(40),
EVENT_COMMENT VARCHAR2(100)
);

If users want to use WebSphere Adapter for JDBC Version 7.5, they need to upgrade the run time environment as well. The following document provides the system requirements for WebSphere Adapter for JDBC, version 7.5:
