User has installed the Xcelerator client on a remote machine but it does not show the CXMD server instance in Server Explorer
The required ports are being blocked either at the Cognos Express server or the local client.
Diagnosing the problem
Temporarily turn off the firewall at both the Cognos Express server and the local client. If the Xcelerator client can now connect, that confirms it is a port blockage issue.
Resolving the problem
If the organization requires the use of firewalls then turn them back on and assure the following ports have been opened via firewall rules:
19300 - 19310 (the default range which can be changed during install).
Verify that the following ports are within the above range:
PortNumber specified in tm1s.cfg for CXMD instance
ClientMessagePortNumber specified in tm1s.cfg for CXMD instance.
